Having read the 'Prevent' strategy that is being implemented in schools in the UK to act as a safeguard against children being targeted to join terrorist groups, I am developing a scheme of work for primary aged children. The aim is to start from the perspective of hope and respect - to celebrate diversity and not fear it. My aim is to do this through a creative process that enables children to explore challenging issues that face us all. The project will explore different questions such as: How can one person make a difference to the world? What is the purpose of thoroughgoing dialogue? How can we really listen to another person? What does it mean to respect each other? How can I resolve conflict in my own life? What difference can I make right now, just as I am? How do I stand up of my own volition? The project is still very much in the early stages....watch this space!
