On 3rd, 4th and 5th December, all UK Tesco stores will be hosting a food collection for either a Trussell Trust foodbank or our partner charity, FareShare, as part of the seventh Neighbourhood Food Collection.
Christmas can be a difficult time for individuals and families who are already managing on extremely tight budgets. Increased winter fuel bills and the absence of free school meals will push many families into food crisis, leaving them with the heart-breaking dilemma of choosing between heating and eating.
Donations made to Trussell Trust foodbanks are used to provide 3 days’ of nutritionally-balanced, emergency food to people in crisis that have been referred by frontline professional agencies such as Citizens Advice or children’s centres. While at the foodbank, clients will be welcomed, listened to and signposted to services that can provide support with the underlying causes of their crisis, helping to break the cycle of poverty.
Tesco top up customer donations by making a 30% financial contribution, so by getting involved you will not only help provide vital food for UK people experiencing crisis, but funds will help Trussell Trust foodbanks provide important support beyond food.
